My name is Connie Frankel and I started Playball by Connie in the summer of 2005. I graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Education. I was originally a Kindergarten and Science teacher when I came across the Playball program. I instantly knew this was the perfect opportunity for me, as I love working with children and have a passion for sports and fitness. I firmly believe that Playball is a superior sports program that develops skills and coordination and builds self-esteem and confidence. I am the mother of three boys, married to my husband, Danny for the last 23 years and I have a passion for running. I currently have completed 6 marathons and many half marathons and 10k runs. Thank you for giving my amazing coaches and me the opportunity to be part of your children’s lives. Today, Playball by Connie is an integral part of the curriculum at 23 schools and approximately 700 children are lovingly coached each week.
Coach Katy has been part of the Playball Team since 2007. She holds a B.S. in Science and Kinesiology from Georgia Southern University, where she also played soccer for the Georgia Southern women’s team for 4 years. She considers herself a lifelong athlete and enjoys motivating children to find their inner athlete as well. She believes coaching and playing sports as a child, not only builds character and confidence but also gives children a sense of accomplishment and prepares them for life.
Hi my name is Coach BJ Spencer and I have lived in Atlanta since 2005 and have been working for Playball for the past 8 years. I have really enjoyed being part of this awesome program and I especially enjoy working with children of all ages. Playball has been a perfect fit for me because I have been involved in sports my entire life, first as an athlete, and later as a coach and volunteer. I played basketball & volleyball and participated in track & field in high school and college and was a USATF & AAU coach and official. I enjoy spending time with my 3 children and volunteering for my favorite charities.
My name is Coach Emma Lee and I am extremely excited about being part of the Playball team. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I have been an athlete all of my life and participated in multiple sports. I originally started my career with children as a nanny and summer camp counselor. The last three years I have been a preschool teacher and now I am ready to start doing what I really love, coaching children sports and physical fitness. I am so grateful for this opportunity to interact and educate my students through the sports I love. Playball is such a wonderful program and I am happy to be part of the team!

Hi my name is Coach Beth. I received my degree in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia. I have been a preschool teacher for the past three years. I have an 8 year old son a 6 year old daughter and a 2 year old golden retriever. I have been married to my husband Keith, who is also a UGA graduate, for 11 years. Keith and I enjoy running 10ks and doing triathlons together. My son and I have run several 5ks, the color run was our favorite and we recently completed the children’s super hero run as a family. Both of my children participated in Playball while they were in preschool and it was a highlight of their preschool years! I believe sports are an integral part of childhood and I am so excited to be a Playball coach. I can’t wait to help your children gain a love for sports!

Hello, my name is Chad Barnes and I am so proud to be a Playball coach! I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana where I learned many sports at a young age. But basketball was my first love. I played in high school and we were fortunate to win a state championship, and shortly thereafter, I was playing basketball for the University of New Orleans. Upon graduating from UNO, I pursued a professional basketball career that took me from South America to the Czech Republic in Europe! Besides playing basketball, I enjoy golf, fishing, and coaching. Giving back to children, sharing my experience of sports and how much confidence it brings to a person’s life is a great joy to me. I’m excited to be a part of the Playball family and I look forward to the opportunity to bring Playball to all!

Hi, my name is Ginny Bates. I love, love, love being a Playball Coach – other than being a mom, this is the best job in the world! I was born in Coral Gables, Florida (grew up playing competitive junior tennis) and moved to Georgia when I went to college to pursue my teaching degree at the University of Georgia in Athens. I am certified to teach Physical Education and Health in grades K-12. I also took a lot of classes in Excercise Science because I was considering physical therapy as well. While there in school, I worked for the UGA men’s tennis coach, helping with summer Bulldog tennis camps and the NCAA tennis championships, as well as working as a referee in the intraural dept. and coaching volleyball. After college, I moved to the metro Atlanta area to teach elementary PE in several different public schools in Gwinnett and Cobb County. I took a hiatus from teaching for a while to have children and then went back to teaching PE in the private school sector, as well as having the privilege to be able to homeschool our 2 oldest kids in their younger years. I’ve been happily married to Lee Bates for almost 28 years and we are blessed with 3 children: our oldest daughter works in youth ministry in Florida, our middle son (you may have met him as he has helped me with one of our Playball Birthday parties last year) is about to graduate in a few months with a Business Management Degree and our youngest son plays NCAA Division I tennis for FGCU, a school in Ft. Myers, FL (you may have met him as he helped me this past summer teach a Playball Tennis Camp). What do I enjoy doing outside of work? I run, play tennis, teach a ladies’ Bible study. I love family time, having lots of middle schoolers at our house every week in the summers for youth group to swim, play basketball/volleyball and zip line as well as do the “gladiator bridge”. Playball is an amazing program – I am so thankful to be a part of it.
